Have you heard of the
Education & Young People Intervention 2004-2006? Funded by the Neighbourhood Renewal Unit through Stockton Renaissance, the Intervention aims to:
- Improve the range of services and activities available in target communities for children and young people (particularly in the 8-13 age range)
- Foster a culture of mutual respect betweenyoung people and older residents within local communities
- Develop a way of making the information on what is available, where and when more accessible to local communities and service providers
- Support the achievement of the national education floor targets
The focus for the intervention was determined through consultation with local residents as part of the Neighbourhood Renewal Local Action Planning process.
The funding has already seen a number of new events and activities taking place, such as football coaching and break dancing, with more being offered over the coming months.
As part of improving the way that children, young people, parents and families can access information on what is available, SEAL (Stockton Events & Activities Listing) has been developed. It is a database containing details of activities for 8-13 year olds, and will be available to residents via the Stockton Borough Council website (www.stockton.gov.uk) later this year.
If you would like further details about the SEAL database
, are offering activities to 8-13 year olds and would like your information to be made available on the database or are interested in another aspect of the work of the Intervention team please contact the Education & Young People team.
