Higher Level Teaching Assistant Status (HLTA)

Higher Level Teaching Assistant Status was introduced in 2003 to raise standards and tackle workload in the classroom.

Higher Level Teaching Assistants work closely with the teacher, complementing their role and freeing them up to have more time to develop each child to his or her full potential.  HLTA is for experienced Teaching Assistants who can demonstrate, through a rigorous assessment process, that they meet the 33 HLTA standards.

Stockton-on-Tees Workforce Development Team is a recognised provider of preparation for HLTA Status and can provide preparation for candidates both within the Borough and also for other schools within the North East.
