Equality and Diversity in Adult Education

Stockton Adult Education Service - Statement of Intent

Our aim is to make learning more inclusive, to widen participation, to eliminate discrimination and promote equality of opportunity for all learners. The Service will:

  • Treat all people equally, no matter what their age, ethnic or racial original, whether or not they have a disability, what their gender may be or sexual orientation they have.
  • Not to tolerate discrimination, harassment or victimisation.
  • Actively seek to address inequalities and improper behaviour, establishing where they exist and then implementing appropriate actions.
  • Remove barriers to learning and employment. Build the capacity of the service to carry out its equality and diversity role.
  • Enhance learning provision to ensure the inclusion of disadvantaged groups in learning.
  • Work with employers and community partners to promote the business case for equality and the value of diversity in the workplace.
