We offer a range of ESOL courses from beginner (basic) to Level 2 (higher intermediate). Many classes are free. Learners can join a course at any time. There are daytime and evening classes, which run year round. We place new learners in an appropriate class after a short interview and initial assessment. New learners should call Stockton International Family Centre on (01642) 612400 for an assessment appointment.
Our courses concentrate on the development of essential English language skills, both written and spoken. We aim to prepare learners for progression into Further or Higher Education or into employment. We also help learners to take a more active part in the everyday life in Stockton. Many courses combine learning English with the development of other important skills, such as computing, using the public library and jobsearch. All classes incorporate citizenship. We offer all learners the option of taking a Cambridge ESOL examination. Many learners also take National Tests in Literacy or Numeracy.
Classes are held in local community centres and schools. Learners with disabilities or learning difficulties can access additional support, if required.
