SureStart Children's CentresSureStart is funded to work within specific boundaries in the Newtown, Portack and Tilery area. Services are for families living in these wards who have children under 5 years of age.
The SureStart team is based in Newtown Resource and Community Centre and Bishopton House. SureStart will deliver services throughout Newtown, Portrack and Tilery using registered crèche facilities in community venues.
SureStart also has the capital money to develop its own buildings, ensuring that all services needed for children and families are under one roof. The development of the Children's Centres is currently taking place in many areas of Stockton. If you would like to get involved in this process please contact us.
How Do I Register?Any parent or carer can register with SureStart as long as they live within the boundaries and have a child under the age of 5. Registration forms can be found in schools, health centres and libraries throughout the area, or can be obtained from your Health Visitor, Doctor, Midwife or Teacher.
You do not have to be registered to join in, just come along to an event and we can register you there and then! You can also call us and we will send you information in the post.
Involving Local PeopleThe SureStart programme is designed, developed and managed by a Management Board, made up from equal numbers of local people and professionals. The Management Board meets on a monthly basis at a variety of community venues across Newtown, Portrack and Tilery.
Any parent living in the SureStart area can join the Management Board. If you are interested in having your say, please contact us.
