You're Never Too Young To Start Reading
SureStart Stockton-on-Tees has enrolled Stockton Library Service's youngest member at just 17 days old.
Chloe Russell from Thornaby became one of the service's youngest members after her mum, Elaine Russell, discovered the benefits of joining the library through SureStart Parkfield & Victoria worker Caroline McGinley.
SureStart Stockton-on-Tees is holding a number of educational fun events including storytelling, craft and messy time sessions for families to promote the library service.
Because of this, 1,500 youngsters have joined the library and the number of issues of junior library books has increased by 12 per cent in the last year.
Melanie Brown, SureStart Reader Development Officer, said:
"It has been really exciting to see parents like Elaine Russell joining their babies at such a young age into the library, as you can never start reading and sharing songs to your baby too early!"
