SureStart Celebrates Bookstart
All Bookstart events are designed to celebrate Bookstart and to encourage babies and their families to join their library, visit a bookshop and develop a lifelong love of books.
"Babies and toddlers are never too young to enjoy sharing books and Bookstart children benefit educationally, socially and emotionally from the experience of sharing stories, songs and rhymes. Sharing books also helps to build language and communication skills and gives children a confidence and pleasure in books that can last a lifetime."
Bookstart works with libraries and health clinics to deliver a free pack of books to babies at their eight month health check. This ensures that each baby has some books to explore.
