Sure Start Stockton-on-Tees has been working together with Stockton Borough Libraries to encourage parents and children to visit their local libraries to learn to enjoy books and reading. This has already generated over 1,500 new library members through initiatives such as storytelling events targeted at children aged under 5 years, promotional outreach work and book loan schemes at local parent and toddler groups and nurseries.
Parent's have even began reviewing library books and copies of these book reviews are available on the Books for Sharing link below.
"It has been really exciting to see so many families accessing the library service at SureStart events" commented Melanie Brown.
