Want to play something different?
Music from Chile or China, Bolivia or Romania, Ecuador or Indonesia?
Here's your chance!
In Spring 2006, Tees Valley Music Service is forming a new group of approximately 12 players who will specialise in performing music from various parts of the world.
The group will have a nucleus of flute, guitar and bass players but we are also looking for any other instrumentalists who are currently in Year 9 - 12 at school/college and who might play not only their own instrument but would also be keen to adapt to playing other string, wind and percussion instruments like the yangchin, guzheng, dizi, tingklik, charango, sicus, zamponas, bombo, djembe or cajon.
A group similar to this was based at Hall Garth School in Middlesbrough from 1992 to 2004, during which time they were invited to perform at the National Festival of Music for Youth in London on eleven occasions, at the Schools Prom in the Royal Albert Hall three times, on television, radio, and on tours abroad.
Rehearsals of the new group will be held weekly during term-time on Thursdays 5.30pm - 6.30pm at Tees Valley Music Service, Bishopton Road West, Stockton, commencing 2nd March 2006.
If you would like to be considered for a place in this unique group of players, you will need to contact Chris Lewis at Tees Valley Music Service (01642-603600)or e mail him at chris.lewis @stockton.gov.uk
