News & Events Stockton Voices Wow Festival (click on image to enlarge picture)Miriam Robson's Stockton Voices Choir pulled out all the stops at the National Festival Of Music For Youth at Shotton Hall School, Peterlee last week. "Over eighty children turned up for the event. We had a chance for a run through before the performance and they really did well" Miriam told me. The choir rehearses at Tees Valley Music Service every Monday from 4 p.m to 5 p.m. and at Bader Primary School in Thornaby from 4 till 5 p.m. on a Tuesday. Membership is FREE!
Billingham's Got Talent! (click on pictures above for larger image)Billingham Training Band's regular Monday Night Rehearsal slot at Bede College was buzzing with excitement and nervous energy last week when they held their Talent Show. The band split into duos, trios and even solo performers with cash prizes at stake. Band leaders Jean Davidson and Jackie Catchpole organised the event and drafted in Stockton Development Coordinator Jeff Sawdon to be the Simon Cowell of the judges (not really) alongside two volunteers from the band. When all thirteen performances were over the judges had the almost impossible task of picking a winner. Eventually Louisa Bell from Roseberry Primary School came out on top with a well played solo version of "Greensleeves" while runners up Gemma Davison from St Michael's RC Comprehensive School and Sophie McKenzie from Billingham Campus were just behind with their duet. Several other performers missed out by just one point, so high was the standard. Special thanks to Aimee Colley and Paige Harris from the band who were co-judges.
