Tristar Homes
On 13 December 2010, 10,250 homes were transferred from Stockton Borough Council to Tristar Homes Limited, a newly-created Housing Association.
This was as a result of a positive transfer ballot by Stockton's tenants' in the summer of 2010, in which 89% of those tenants who voted indicated they were in favour of the proposal to transfer.
As a result of the transfer, Tristar Homes which had been the council's arms-length management organisation since 2002, now has the ability to unlock £140 million over the next five years for an investment programme which will see upgrades to properties, improve the lives of tenants, and invest in homes for future generations.
The promises in the formal consultation document, which was sent to all tenants prior to the ballot taking place, includes fitting of double glazed windows within the first three years to properties that do not already have them; replace the oldest bathrooms, kitchens and heating systems first - within the first five years of transfer.
If you are a tenant and would like to talk to someone about your home, report a repair or wish to apply for a property, please contact Tristar Homes.
