Students and Private Renting
If you're renting from a private landlord or letting agent, you have the same rights and responsibilities as any other tenants.
Be sure to read any tenancy agreement carefully and if you're not happy, seek advice immediately. In addition, many shared properties are required to be licensed.
You can get further information on private renting and find out whether your property needs to be licensed by following the links on this page. If you have any concerns, contact your University's Accommodation Officer or the Private Sector Housing Division.
