Gas Safe Register
Gas Safe Register starts 1 April 2009
The new gas safety regime came into force on 1 April 2009. All existing CORGI registered contractors should now have transferred their registration to the new Gas Safe Register. The register is run by CAPITA and overseen by the Health and Safety Executive. From 1 April 2009, no contractors are able to carry out any gas safety work unless they are registered on the Gas Safe Register.
We understand that significant promotional work is being carried out over the next couple of months to ensure everyone is aware of these new arrangements. Whilst there are no immediate plans to change the format of Landlords Gas Safety Certificates (CP12s), landlords and agents should be vigilant in checking that anyone they employ to undertake any gas safety work has transferred their registration.
