Updating the Housing Strategy

The Council is updating its Housing Strategy for the borough. The current strategy runs until 2011 and the updated version will be an overarching document which will also encompass our Private Sector Housing Renewal Strategy and our Homelessness Prevention Strategy.

In developing the strategy, the Council is looking to identify the views of individuals and organisations in relation to housing in the borough. The consultation is set under four priorities and the Council is looking to identify what should be included within each of them.

There are four factsheets (one for each priority) which contain a range of information, statistics and a set of specific questions. The overarching priorities are:
1. Meet the challenges of the housing market
2. Meet the homelessness prevention agenda nationally and locally
3. Promote and sustain independence
4. Promote sustainable communities

The factsheets can be downloaded below.

The Council has consulted with its partners on these overarching priorities and their views will be fed into the development of the updated strategy.
