Housing Strategy and Development

Welcome to the Housing Strategy and Development page for Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council.

The Strategy and Development team looks at the current and future housing needs of people that live in the Borough and ensures that appropriate amount of affordable and supported affordable housing is developed.

The key roles of the Housing Strategy and Development team include:

• Produce the Housing Strategy for the Council. The Housing Strategy sets out the priorities for housing within the borough for both the council and its partners.
  
• Ensure that the right amount of affordable and social housing is developed. This might be through building new homes or renovating existing ones.
  
• Develop and assess policies on Housing related issues.
  
• Support the work of the Housing & Neighbourhood Partnership. This is a sub-group of Stockton Renaissance.
  
• Consult with residents of the Borough on important issues relating to housing.
  
• Develop proposals to obtain external funding for housing and work with our housing provider partners to obtain funding.
