Meadow Rise - scheme update

The Hardwick Green development was launched in 2007 (now known as Meadow Rise) with the children from the local primary school burying a time capsule in the grounds of Aspen Gardens to mark the event. Since then the scheme has progressed well, below is a summary of what has been achieved and what is still to come.

Hardwick Green Launch - Time CapsulePrivate Homes

Barratt Homes and Keepmoat Homes are both continuing with their build programmes. Build has now commenced on the former Hardwick Primary School site, and has involved the construction of a new signal junction creating a new gateway into the development and assisting with better traffic flow in the area.

Show homes are open and many people are settled in their new homes throughout the development.

Rented Homes

Over 100 family homes have been completed and rented.

Supported Housing

20 bungalows for people with physical or learning disabilities were completed in July 2009. See Endeavour Housing Association for more details.

School and Leisure

School landscapingThe new state-of-the-art Hardwick Green Primary School was opened to pupils in April 2009 and an ongoing project to improve the outside space of the school was completed in October 2010.

New leisure facilities and cycle ways have also been developed in the local area.

Sustainable Urban Drainage System (SUDS)

A project has been completed at Hardwick Dene to provide a new urban drainage system. Phase 1 clearance work took place in 2008.  Phase 2 is now complete and included building a drainage pond and two spillways.  The pond has been designed to hold water, rather than acting only as a surface water drainage system.  This has helped to create a new wildlife and wetland area to complement the conservation value of Hardwick Dene. The project has improved facilities for public use at this designated Local Nature Reserve.

The SUDS will also provide surface water drainage improvements that will benefit the wider regeneration of Hardwick, and was implemented by our development partners Keepmoat Homes and Barratt Homes as part of their planning approval. Work with Tees Valley Wildlife Trust to design and implement new landscaping is complete.
