Children's Rights/Participation

Hi! My name is Heather Johnson and I am the Children's Rights/Participation Officer. I am a part of Children, Education and Social Care for Stockton on Tees Council.

What your Children's Rights/Participation Officer can do for you!

v Talk to you about your rights as a child or young person in the looked after system

v Listen to what you have to say and get your views heard by the decision makers

v Offer support when making important decisions

v Help you take part in any meetings that are about you

v Encourage you to put forward your views about what is good about the service and what needs to be changed.

v Offer advice about other services you may need

How will this be achieved?

By meeting and working with as many children and young people as possible so that they can raise any issues, concerns or complaints about the service that they receive and how it can be improved. The role of Children's Rights/Participation Officer can be developed in the way children and young people wish it to.

Why has the post been created?

To allow all looked after children and young people in the Stockton borough have the opportunity to voice their views and opinions about the service they receive through a range of different avenues.
