GREAT NEWS FOR 'SUPPORTING PEOPLE' INSPECTION RESULTS

INSPECTORS have praised the Council's Supporting People services, which helps vulnerable people in Stockton Borough to live independently.

In their first report on these services in Stockton, inspectors from the Audit Commission, HM Inspectorate of Probation and the Commission for Social Care Inspection say the Council's services are "Good" and have "promising prospects for improvement".

The Council and its partners spend £2.7 million a year to provide vulnerable adults with a wide range of housing-related services through a programme named 'Supporting People'. Older people, teenage parents and women fleeing domestic violence are just some of those helped by the programme.

The 70 or so contracted services in Stockton ensure vulnerable people receive housing-related support. These include services for people with age-related problems, homelessness, learning disabilities and mental health problems to help them live more independently.
