The Halcyon Centre

The Halcyon Centre is a day service for adults and older people who have been assessed as meeting the criteria to attend the centre. Provided we have capacity to meet those assessed needs, all clients are welcome.

The centre was opened in August 2008 and is located behind Mandale Mill Primary School (Formally Harewood Infants) on Thorntree Road, Thornaby.

We are a large centre that can accommodate up to 90 clients a day, with 9 spacious activity rooms. We provide a broad range of activities which include world wide celebrations and events. We also have spacious gardens and an allotment area that clients are currently developing in conjunction with local voluntary groups.

Kitwood Unit is an independently staffed unit, which supports clients with dementia type illnesses to engage in activities within the mainstream centre, or within their own group. Our committed, experienced staff have a broad knowledge base and are keen to support our members in daily living skills and to achieve their goals and aspirations.
