Stroke Services
Two services have been recently commissioned to provide support to people who have had a stroke and their carers.
The Stockton Independent Living Centre (SILC) holds two Stroke Service drop in sessions on a Tuesday and Wednesday, where patients and carers can get together and chat informally over a cup of tea, partake in some gentle exercise or gardening, or receive support, information and advice in a relaxed and informal environment. For more details please contact SILC on 01642 524750.
The Stroke Association provides a Family and Carer Support Service, which gives much needed support to families who have been affected by stroke. Contact can initially be made whilst the patient is receiving treatment in hospital, however referrals can also be made via Stockton Borough Council`s First Contact Team 01642 527764 or your GP, nurse or care manager, or you could contact the Stroke Association on 0191 487 9988 for more information.
