The purpose of the Over 50s Assembly is to provide an opportunity for meaningful consultation with, and on behalf of, people over the age of 50 living within the Borough of Stockton-on-Tees.

The Assembly's aim is to improve the quality and provide a voice in the planning and  development of services through discussion, consultation, formulating ideas and making representation to relevant providers and policy makers.

The Assembly gives members the opportunity to receive information and be consulted on a wide range of local issues including those relating to health care, social care, transport, leisure and education and to comment on any key decisions being made by the Council, Health Authority or any other body that affects people over 50 living within the Borough of Stockton-on-Tees.

Membership of the Assembly is open to any individual over the age of 50 who lives within the Borough of Stockton-on-Tees. Members may also be co-opted representatives of Partner groups or Agencies similarly representing the interests of the Over 50s within the
Borough. Other individuals can also be co-opted to support the development of the Assembly.

Meetings of the Assembly are held regularly - usually monthly - at a location and time considered accessible to the members. A minimum of five members constitutes a quorum. Decisions of the Assembly will be made by a simple majority of 50% of members present voting on a show of hands -the Chairman having the casting vote.
