Blind Voice UK

Blind Voice UK was established as a charity in 1997 under the name of Stockton Blind People's Voice. The charity started as a group of blind people who wanted to express the concerns of the blind community in relation to problems faced in accessing services and awareness of issues facing those with visual impairment.

The charity changed its name in 2007 in order to reflect the development of the charity's work beyond the borough of Stockton-on-Tees with its transcription services which was launched as a social enterprise. The initial purpose of the charity to break down barriers faced by blind people in order for them to realise their full potential, remains central to the charity's work.

At Blind Voice UK we understand that sight loss not only results in lack of confidence loneliness and isolation but it can also devastate lives. We provide information, practical support, learning opportunities, confidence building emotional support, awareness training and social activities and this list continues to grow we identify new and better ways to support the visually impaired community.
