Becoming an adopter
These are the stages to becoming an adopter:
Contact us
Contact the Child Placement Team by phone, e-mail or visit our website to request an information pack.
Initial visit
Complete an application form and we will then visit you to give you more information.
Preparation group
Attendance at a preparation and training course which usually lasts for four days.
Assessment
A social worker will be allocated to complete your assessment which we aim to complete in eight months.
The panel
A social worker presents your assessment to the Panel who will consider your application.
Final decision
The Head of Operations will make a final decision about whether you should be approved.
Placements
If you are approved, we will contact you when we have children who need families.
