Climate Change
Climate change is one of the most serious environmental threats facing the world today. Global temperature increase is likely to trigger serious consequences for humanity and other life forms.
In the past 100 years the earth has warmed by 0.7°C. There is now strong and indisputable evidence that climate change is occurring and that man made emissions are the cause. You will find more information about this on the DEFRA website, there is a link to the DEFRA website at the bottom of this page.
The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) has estimated that average global temperatures are likely to rise between 1.1 and 6.4°C above 1990 levels by the end of this century, depending on our emissions. This will result in a further rise in global sea levels of between 20 and 60cm by the end of this century, continued melting of ice caps, glaciers and sea ice, changes in rainfall patterns and intensification of tropical cyclones.
As this problem is largely man made, it is the responsibility of us all to act now in taking preventative measures before it's too late.
