Heating

Are you over Heating?
Boilers account for around 60% of all domestic CO2 emissions. By fitting a new high efficiency condensing boiler with heating controls, you will significantly cut your home's CO2 emissions and could save around £200 a year.
More efficient use of your existing heating system can also save money and energy. Below are just a couple of ways that you can do your bit:
- You could improve the efficiency of your heating system and cut your heating bills by as much as 17% by fitting heating controls. For example, Programmers, Room Thermostats and Therostatic Radiator Valves.
- Turning down your thermostat by 1°C could save 10% on your fuel bill .
- By using your timer programmer you can preset your water and heating switch on and off to suit your needs.
- Fit aluminium foil or reflective panels behind radiators to reflect heat back into the room. You can buy reflective panels from The Care For Your Area Environment Centre (see related content to the left of this page for more details).
- Try not to let curtains hang in front of radiators as this just directs the heat out of the window, tuck them behind when ever possible.
- Try not to dry clothing on radiaors as this blocks the heat, a clothes horse in the same room does the same job and allows you to dry more clothes at one time.
