The average UK washing machine does 274 wash cycles a year. An Energy Saving Recommended one uses over 30% less energy than a typical old one, saving you £8 a year on your bills. You can also save energy by washing at a lower temperature; for example, washing clothes at 30°C instead of a higher can use 40% less electricity. Another easy energy saver is to always try and wash a full load or if this is not possible to use a half load or economy programme instead.
