Energy Saving Television and Set Top Boxes

Energy Saving Television

The latest Integrated Digital Televisions (IDTVs) receive digital TV without the need for a set top box. This means they do the same as a TV plus set top box, but with just one power supply, rather than two - saving up to £6 a year. So, with the switchover to all digital TV starting 2008, why not make you next TV an IDTV?

Set Top Boxes

Set top boxes for the reception of digital TV are inexpensive to buy, but by 2010 they could be costing UK households around £480m every year in electricity. An Energy Savings Recommended standard set top box (i.e. non recordable) uses 50% less electricity than a typical set top box.
