Smoke Free Stockton

What is Smoke-free Stockton?

Smoke-free Stockton is a partnership consisting of a range of organisations and individuals including:

Stockton Renaissance; North Tees Primary Care Trust; Tees Start Stopping Service; Stockton Council; Local Councillors and Residents; and Cleveland Fire Service.

What are the aims of Smoke-free Stockton?

Smoke-free Stockton is continuing to ensure that Stockton is a smoke free borough. An area where you can work, relax and play without fear of harm to your health from second hand tobacco smoke.

Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council Environmental Health Officers, Licensing Officers, Trading Standards Officers and Enforcement Officers combine enforcement of smoke-free legislation with their usual enforcement duties and will continue to provide advice and guidance.

Council Officers will work closely with new employers to advise how to create a smoke free environment that complies with the law.

What areas are covered by the legislation?

Virtually all enclosed public places and workplaces are covered.  An enclosed place is anything with a roof or covering and less than 50% of its sides permanently open.  For more detailed guidance and to obtain free no smoking stickers/signs please contact the Environmental Health Unit.
