Animal Licences - General
The Disease Control (England) Order 2003
In accordance with Article12 of the above Order the Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs authorises by a general licence the movement of Cattle, Sheep, Goats, Deer and Pigs within England, subject to certain conditions.
There are general licences for each species in respect of cattle, sheep, goats, deer and pigs. Each licence sets the rules which must be followed on cleansing and disinfection, scheduled stops, animal identification and the movement standstill period, including exemptions.
Where a movement is permitted, it may take place under a general licence except:
- For movements of livestock where the owner / keeper has been debarred in writing from moving animals under the terms of a general licence, by the Secretary of State.
- For movement of pigs from a market to any other place
All species should be accompanied with a movement document. Cattle should move with a passport, Sheep/Goats and Deer should move with an AML1 form and Pigs should be moved with an AML2 form.
For more information and a copy of the relevant general licence refer to the Defra link.
