Village Park

Village Play Trail AreaVillage Park an attractive urban park, a short walking distance from Thornaby Town Centre. The land that the park is built on  was acquired by the Council in 1926 for housing and recreation ground development. The park was opened to the public in 1935.

  • Where is it:

Village Park is about 1/2 mile north-east of Thornaby Town Centre. The main entrance is on Thorntree Road with other entrances on Mill Bank Lane and Park Road.

  • Opening Times:

Village Park is open to pedestrians all the time.

  • How to get there:

By bus from Stockton you will need to catch the Arriva 17A from the High Street and the drop off point is in Thorntree Road near the park entrance. If travelling from Middlesbrough you will need to catch the Arriva 17A from the bus station.

By train: Thornaby has its own railway station and again you will need to catch the Arriva 17A

Site Management

The park is managed by Stockton Borough Council and is supported by friends and volunteers of the Bowls Club and the Village Park Residents Association. 

Getting Involved

The bowls pavilion is maintained by volunteers who are members of the Thornaby Village Park Bowling Club. The park also has a residents group who are working in partnership with Stockton Borough Council on the development of the park.
