Preparation

Prepare for your visit

To make the most of your visit and to ensure the safety and well being of your students please make note of the guidelines given below:

  1. Group leaders should ensure that there is an appropriate adult to student ratio, for children under eight this should be at least one adult per six children.
  2. Warm clothing, a waterproof coat and good shoes or wellingtons are strongly recommended. For some visits long trousers may be advisable, protecting legs from thorns and nettles.
  3. Please advise the site warden of any children who have special needs, every effort will be made to integrate any such children into the full range of activities.
  4. Clipboards, paper and pencils may be useful for some visits (please check on booking).
  5. Worksheets are available for some activities, ask the warden for a copy prior to your visit.
  6. Picnic sites are available at some sites; groups are welcome to stay for a packed lunch.
  7. Specialist equipment such as pond dipping nets, inspection trays etc., will be provided for your visit.
