Teacher Guides

Though relatively small in area, the borough of Stockton on Tees is well served by three Country Parks, a Community Farm and other countryside facilities open to school visits.

This guide aims to provide teachers with background information on sites open to school visits with activities co-ordinated by Stockton's Countryside team.

Extensive descriptions are given on a wide range of activities available for visiting school parties. These focus principally on KS1 and KS2 students, with links to national curriculum targets given at the end of each activity description.
Teachers should note that for some of the activities there are optional elements, also that subject to discussion with the particular site warden it is often possible to tailor an activity or activities to the requirements of a particular group. Should teachers wish to organise a full day of activities it is often possible to run separate morning and afternoon sessions at one site or possibly combining a visit to two sites.

Secondary school teachers and further education staff are welcome to contact individual sites to discuss their requirements for a visit.

Charges for visits

A small charge is made for all visits to sites offering indoor teaching and toilet facilities. This is levied on a per pupil basis, with no charge for teachers and accompanying adults. For details of charges please contact the site you wish to visit.
No charge is made for visits to sites without these facilities.
