Removing untaxed vehicles from our Streets

  • Quite simply, we will not tolerate vehicles that are left on the public highway that do not possess the required valid tax disc.
  • All abandoned vehicles should be reported immediately.  We will examine your report and ensure that the necessary investigations are made via the DVLA.
  • Those vehicles that do not possess a tax disc, will be removed if a report is received from the public, or is noticed by our staff.
  • We often have joint exercises with the Driver Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA) and the local Police where we will tour areas, removing any abandoned vehicle in the process.
  • There is a hefty cost that must be paid if you need to re-claim your vehicle from the storage facility. You will be required to pay any backdated tax that is due as well as daily storage and removal fees.
  • Ultimately, vehicles that are removed and not claimed are usually disposed of. As the vehicle is stored on the highway illegally, no action can be taken by the owner against the Council or the DVLA.

  • Need to know more - just contact us and we will be more than happy to help.
