Facts about the Service
- All areas of grass verge and open space, which Stockton Council is responsible for, are cut every 10-12 working days between March and the end of October each year.
- Planting of floral areas, hanging baskets and tubs during June and July each year. Plants are then maintained and watered until mid to late September when we remove them.
- The beds are then replanted with winter flowers and spring bulbs during October and November.
- Occasionally we receive queries about why we remove some of our plants at certain times, as they feel that flowers should be allowed to remain for longer. We do this because the lifespan of the flowers are carefully timed and they do need to be removed in preparation for the seasonal planting later that year.
We are also able to offer a range of chargeable horticultural services, this includes turfing, seeding, planting and garden design. We are also able to offer specific services in relation to interior planting designs for conferences, seminars and award ceremonies.
Our award-winning Horticultural Team have been highly praised for some fantastic work over recent years and have picked up a whole load of accolades along the way such as Northumbria in Bloom and Britain in Bloom awards. The Northumbria in Bloom and Britain in Bloom awards look at the quality of floral areas in the Borough and also concentrates on other elements such as hard landscaping, resident and business participation as well as areas such as environmental initiatives and cleanliness.
