Skip Licensing
Did you know that the law states that a licence is needed for all skips placed on the highway? And that the business from which you hire the skip from is responsible for obtaining the licence from us?
Section 139 of the Highways Act 1980 requires any person who wishes to deposit a skip on the highway to obtain permission from the Highway Authority.
Stockton Council will remove unlicensed skips and place them in storage. All costs associated with this will be forwarded to the offending company. We charge £15 to cover the associated costs of this service.
Guidelines issued by Stockton Council must be followed in order to ensure that the licence remains valid.
An application form is available for online transactions.
Skip companies based in the Stockton Borough can obtain the relevant documents by contacting Care For Your Area or they are available for download.
If you are not able to find the information that you require please contact us.
