Skips
Did you know that the law states that a licence is needed for all skips placed on the highway? And that the business from which you hire the skip from is responsible for obtaining the licence from us?
Section 139 of the Highways Act 1980 requires any person who wishes to deposit a skip on the highway to obtain permission from the Highway Authority.
From May 1st 2006 Stockton Council will remove unlicenced skips and place them in storage. All costs associated with this will be forwarded to the offending company.
Also from May 1st 2006 we will introduce a £15.00 charge to cover the associated costs of this service.
Guidelines issued by Stockton Council must be followed in order to ensure that the licence remains valid.
An application form is available at the bottom of this page to allow online transactions.
A range of documents issued to all Stockton Borough based skip companies to advise of the new procedure. They are available for download for your information.
