It is sad to say but, from time to time, the Council do pick up pets which have been injured or killed in road traffic incidents. Where the animal has been killed, we do ask all of our Care For Your Area staff to remove any identification so that it can be brought back to our depot in order for the owner to be contacted. If we pick up an injured animal from the highway, we would inform our Animal Welfare Unit so that they could arrange for the animal to be passed onto the owner or directly to the local veterinary surgery.
