Municipal Funerals
Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council does not currently operate a Municipal funeral service.
For those who do not wish to purchase grave space, burial in a public or common grave may be an option, but please note that it is not possible to place a memorial on this type of grave and that unrelated persons may also be buried in that grave.
If the person responsible for arranging a funeral is in receipt of any of the following benefits:
- Income Support
- Job Seekers Allowance (income based)
- Housing Benefit
- Council Tax Benefit
- Disabled Persons Tax Credit
- Working Families Tax Credit
they may be entitled to a Funeral Payment from the Social Fund.
