Planning Policy Statement 25 Development and Flood Risk was published by the Government in 2006. This emphasised the Planning System's role in reducing and preventing flood damage by controlling development in flood risk areas. It also required Local Authorities to consider the risk of flooding, and therefore a Strategic Flood Risk Assessment was required.
Stockton and the neighbouring Tees Valley Authorities jointly commissioned JBA Consulting to undertake a Strategic Flood Risk Assessment for the Tees Valley. The final report was delivered in February 2007, and will be used when considering all future developments and all Policy Documents as a material consideration.
The report and the associated maps are available to view at the end of this page.
