When the work is complete you should contact us to arrange a final inspection. If you have built a new building, extended an existing building, or carried out internal alterations, we will need to inspect the inside of the premises; therefore someone will need to be available to provide access.
To fulfil your legal responsibilities, you must provide us with the following Statutory Notices:
1. After completion, you must notify us within 5 working days* of completion of the work.
2. Before occupation of any part of the building where work has been carried out, you must provide us with 5 working days* notice before occupation of that part of the building.
*working days do not include Saturdays, Sundays or Bank Holidays
Once we have confirmed that the work meets the required standards, we will be pleased to issue you with a Completion Certificate. You should keep this certificate in a safe place, as it will be required by solicitors if you decide to sell the property.
To avoid problems when work needs to be rectified, we would advise you not to make any final payments to builders until the Completion Certificate has been issued.
