Discretionary Housing Payments
Extra Help
If we are paying you Housing and/or Council Tax Benefit but you cannot manage to pay your rent or council tax you can apply for extra help. The extra help is called a Discretionary Housing Payment.
You cannot get extra help;
- if you do not get housing benefit or council tax benefit
- if we are paying benefit for your full rent or council tax, or
- to help pay for fuel and water bills.
We only have a set amount of money we can pay out each year. Once we have paid out this money we cannot pay any more.
Call our helpline (01642) 393829 for more information.
