Landlords

It is important to us that landlords understand their responsibilities with regard to administration of council tax and work with us to provide an efficient service. If you are a landlord please tell us immediately in writing when a change in tenancy occurs. This helps us to issue accurate and prompt bills, award exemptions and discounts correctly and reduce unnecessary paperwork, telephone calls and visits to the property.

The information you need to provide in writing when any change in tenancy occurs is:

  • Your daytime telephone number
  • The start and end date of any tenancy agreement
  • If the occupation dates differ from the dates entered on the tenancy agreement eg if the tenant moves out before the end date on the agreement
  • Full names of all the tenants
  • The previous address of a new tenant, if known
  • The forwarding address of a previous tenants, if known
  • If someone else moves into the property with the tenant
  • Whether the property is let as furnished or unfurnished
