Children and Young People's Service

The Children & Young People's Service provide services to children who are in need of support and protection.

The service also helps families who have a child or young person who has a physical or learning disability, or where they require assistance at times of crisis.  Social Workers always try to keep children with their families unless it is unsafe for the child.

Where a child or young person is unable to live safely with their family, we may need to arrange for the child to be looked after.  Social Workers will always check to see if relatives (Aunt, Uncle Grandparents) or friends can look after the child.  If that is not possible, then we can provide child or young person with a foster placement or a placement in a children's home.
