My Place

Stockton-on-Tees was Myplaceawarded £4,995,250 from the myplace programme to create the new state-of-the-art youth facility known as the ICE Centre, in Stockton's Tilery area.

The centre - ICE stands for Inspiration, Creativity and Entertainment - will provide leisure, social, advice and learning facilities for all 13-19-year-olds plus those with disabilities aged up to 25.  It will provide vital support and services to the young people who need it most and should open in 2012.

Myplace is a multi million pound government programme aimed to help partnerships to deliver world class youth facilities in communities across the country. This is an exciting and innovative opportunity for Stockton-on-Tees Children Trust to develop a robust and successful partnership, working alongside voluntary, community and private sectors and young people, to develop new and exciting facilities and provisions for young people.

This funding mechanism offers Stockton-on-Tees Children's Trust the exciting opportunity to develop a full and co-ordinated package of services and provisions for young people, delivered by a range of key partners and providers. Stockton-on-Tees Children's Trust is committed to engaging and developing effective partnership working and involvement, of all sectors, in the planning and preparation of this bid from the onset. It welcomes all interested parties to have a fully active role in the design, planning, consultation and aims to being together the delivery of youth services in a coherent, co-ordinated approach.

The young people of Stockton Borough have been working closely with architects and planners on the design of the ICE centre and have come up with three designs. So why not get involved and make sure your voice is heard on the designs through the many consultation events planned over the next month, details of which are available at the myplace Stockton website which launches shortly.

If you are unable to attend any of these events and would like further information please contact Claire Walsh on 01642 526389 or email Claire.Walsh@stockton.gov.uk
