Land and property owned by the council
The Council owns a considerable amount of property, details of which are held in a document known as the Council's Terrier.
If you want to know if a particular piece of land or property is owned by the Council please contact us using details on this page.
Details of land not owned by us can be obtained from Durham District Land Registry. Their telephone number is 0191 301 3500 or follow the link on this page.
If you are interested in new business premises, the Council's Business Development Team holds a database of available properties (called Locate) and can provide valuable support in the search for the most appropriate site or building, whether that be a shop, office, industrial unit, factory or warehouse. Please follow this link and complete the enquiry form with details of the type and approximate size of the premises you are looking for and a search will be carried out to find the premises or sites that best match your requirements.
