Stockton-on-Tees has twelve community libraries, all of which vary in size, stock and services.
However size isn't everything, each library exists to serve their community with services from traditional book lending, connecting people to the wider world through the internet, providing fun and educational activities and above all they provide a welcoming environment, open and free to all.
Please note: In the coming weeks two of Stockton’s Libraries will be relocating to new premises - Thornaby Library in Westbury Street will be moved to the Riverbank Children’s Centre in Gilmour Street and Roseworth Library will be relocating to the Redhill Centre at the other end of the shopping precinct.
From Monday 3 March Thornaby Library (Westbury Street) will close and will reopen in the Riverbank Children’s Centre on Gilmour Street on Monday 31 March.
Roseworth Library will close on Thursday 13 March and reopen in Redhill Children’s Centre on Redhill Road on Monday 14 April.
While the libraries are closed the new sites within the children’s centres will be refurbished and existing library stock and computers will be transferred. New self service facilities will also be installed. Library users can of course visit any of the Borough’s other branches so these works will not prevent anyone from accessing this important service.
Here's a list of our libraries in the Borough, click each one to find its location, contact details and opening hours.
