The library has moved on! We still do the books bit, ensuring we always have the very latest titles, but we do so much more. 

The overall aim of Stockton Libraries and Community Information Service is to provide a quality, relevant, accessible and modern service which is responsive to the needs and lifestyles of the users it aims to serve 

Each of our libraries exist to serve the community and provide a welcoming environment, open and free to all. You will discover reading groups for all ages, fun activities for children and families, a youth zone with gaming workshops, homework clubs, support sessions, local history studies, basic ICT training and all of our libraries have free internet access, with free Wi-Fi in a number of branches, Our library events run throughout the year and there's something for everyone.

Digital War Memorial  

The Digital War Memorial is a project led by the Society of Chief librarians. It brings together a wide range of communities to work with high quality artists to create their own unique creative response to the First World War Centenary. Using the rich resources of local libraries and archives as the starting point, the new artworks tell diverse stories of how the First World War touched people’s lives and how it is remembered today. From 2014 to 2018 we hope to see projects across the whole country that will cumulate into a truly national memorial for our times.

Roll of Honour 1939 - 1945

At this time of commemorating the events of the Great War it is important that we don’t lose sight of the sacrifices made by the people of the Borough in other conflicts.

A copy of a Roll of Honour for the fallen of the Borough of Stockton-on-Tees 1939-1945  can be seen in the Reference section of Stockton Central Library.   We also have a digital version of the document on our Heritage website

Anyone wishing to see the original document can visit Stockton Parish Church

To have a name added to the book requires confirmed information of the fallen.  This can be obtained from the General Registry Office in Southport on 03001231837 or through the Government web site  There is charge for this service,  (to get a reply within three weeks costs  £9.25 or in one working day for £23.40).  You can then take this information to the Church to enter it into the Book of Remembrance.  There may be a charge for this.  

Note - the addition will be placed in an addendum at the end of the book and not on to the original pages.
